Support to walk the Sulayr
The Moors referred to Sierra Nevada as Sulayr, and that is the name of the longest circular trail to be found anywhere in Spain now designated as the GR240. The 300-kilometre itinerary is divided into 19 stages, designed to enable the visitor to discover the beauty and uniqueness of the area’s landscape and villages.
The trail is divided into 19 stages, following a circuit around the middle mountains and is well waymarked. You can find lots of information on the Junta de Andalucia website and Editorial Penibetica have produced a guidebook in English which is available from Stanfords.
Sierra Nevada Guides have written a blog giving more details about the Sendero and are now able to offer support to those who wish to walk the trail. This includes the options of walking with a guide, or self-guided with bags being transported between villages, help with booking accommodation and pick-ups at the start and end of each day.
